A handsome and practical antique oak bureau, dating approximately from the 1930s, with particularly attractive grain to the fall front.

The bureau has a classic compact design with a fall-front writing surface which opens to reveal a fitted interior with pigeonholes and small storage compartments. Below are three graduated drawers, each fitted with traditional metal drop handles. The dovetailed drawer construction is another attractive feature of this well-made period piece.

The oak has developed a rich, warm brown colour and attractive patina. Its relatively compact proportions make it particularly useful today as a home office desk, writing bureau or occasional workstation, while providing useful storage without taking up a large amount of floor space.

Dimensions

Height: 100 cm

Width: 74 cm

Depth: 40 cm

In very good antique condition, with age-related marks, light scratches, variations in colour and general signs of previous use consistent with its age. These add to the authentic character and patina of the piece.

The drawers and fall front are functional and the bureau remains a solid and attractive piece of period furniture.
