A handsome and substantial antique Chippendale Revival carver armchair dating from approximately 1900–1920, featuring an elegant carved frame and generous proportions.

The chair has a tall open back with a finely shaped and pierced central splat, decorated with carved detailing across the crest rail. Gracefully curved open arms terminate in subtle scroll ends, creating the distinctive elegant profile associated with Chippendale-inspired furniture.

Particularly attractive are the substantial carved cabriole front legs, decorated with foliate detailing to the knees and terminating in traditional claw style feet. The combination of the tall back, wide seat and sculptural legs gives this chair considerably more presence than a standard dining chair.

The generously sized upholstered seat is finished in a traditional brown floral fabric with soft cream, pink and muted pastel detailing, complementing the dark warm tones of the wooden frame.

A very decorative antique chair that would work particularly well as a statement armchair, desk chair, library chair, hallway chair or occasional chair, and would suit both traditional interiors and more eclectic settings.

Presented in very good antique condition, remaining a strong and attractive piece. The wooden frame displays an appealing aged patina together with expected surface marks, rubbing and variations to the finish consistent with its age and previous use. These are part of the character of an authentic antique piece.
