A beautiful and characterful antique oak writing bureau, dating from approximately 1900–1910.

Crafted in oak with a wonderfully rich, dark aged finish, this compact bureau combines traditional period character with highly practical storage and makes an excellent writing desk for a smaller interior.

The sloping fall-front opens to create a generous writing surface and reveals a particularly attractive fitted interior with a series of pigeon holes, document compartments and small central shelves, providing useful storage for stationery, letters and paperwork.

Below the writing section is a full-width drawer fitted with traditional brass handles, followed by two generous open shelves offering additional storage for books, documents or decorative objects.

One of the particularly desirable features is the survival of the original keys, including keys for both the writing compartment and drawer. The decorative brass escutcheons and traditional fittings complement the dark oak beautifully and add to the authentic period appearance.

The bureau is presented in very good antique condition, with attractive age related patina throughout. There are expected marks, scratches, small areas of wear and variations to the finish consistent with its age and previous use. These are part of the authentic character of the piece.
